Matawalu, a 19-time Fijian international, had previously shone in the sevens game and arrived much to the excitement of Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend.
Initially in a battle for the No.9 shirt with veteran Chris Cusiter and up-and-coming scrum-half Henry Pyrgos, the 25-year-old has since shown he can do so much more.
Regularly used as an impact replacement both behind the scrum and out on the wing, Matawalu has wowed Warriors fans with lightning quick feet and devastating breaks for two seasons.
He has helped Glasgow to a semi-final finish in 2013 and all the way to last year's final, where Glasgow were once again beaten by Leinster.
Townsend described the Fijian as "one of those types of players that can do something a bit different, the unexpected" when he arrived at Scotstoun in 2012 and that is what he will bring as they go in search of a maiden GUINNESS PRO12 title this season.
