Ford hoping Edinburgh can keep breaking records

The result was Edinburgh's first away win in their opening fixture since 2005 and also consigned Munster to a third successive home defeat for the first time in the professional era.

The Scotland international admits that being responsible for bestowing that unwanted gift on the Irish province makes their 14-13 victory at Thomond Park even sweeter.

Yet Ford also called on his players to cut out the mistakes that prevented an even greater margin of victory and improve their attacking play ahead of the visit of Connacht on Friday night.

"Hearing we did that makes me feel even better about what happened," he told Edinburgh Evening News.

"Last week we recognised there was a chance to start by doing something special and the first 15 minutes set the tone when we knocked them back in the tackle.

"We upped the standard of our attack, but at the same time we need to create a lot more because we left two or three tries on the pitch.

"We knew even when we were ahead that Munster are a proud team and would not want to let themselves down, especially at Thomond Park. If we had limited our silly errors we wouldn't have had to rely on them missing a kick at the end."
