Horne starred in Glasgow's 22-20 defeat of reigning GUINNESS PRO12 champions Leinster last weekend, scoring the opening try of the game to help his side avenge last year's final.
The versatile 24-year-old, who can play at centre or fly-half, made his Warriors debut in 2009 and has since become a central figure for the club, while also winning five caps for Scotland.
And Murchie is clearly impressed by his younger colleague's impact, insisting Horne is the ideal player to guide through the next generation of Warriors.
"It's a great boost for us. Pete is one of those players you love playing with because you'll get 100% from him every time," Murchie told the Glasgow Evening Times.
"He trains hard, he's a model professional and he'll put you in space on the field.
"As well as that, he's a great player and team-mate, it's a massive thing for us he's committed to Glasgow.
"For the younger guys he is the perfect role model as he's always out on the training field working hard on his game. He looks after himself as well.
"Above everything, Pete's a great guy. He gees up the rest of the players and is a lively character off the pitch. He's a good mate and it's great he's signed again."
