Last Friday's 37-23 reverse to Leinster made it three defeats in a row for the Cardiff outfit following their opening day win over Zebre, and leaves them sitting tenth in the table.
Next up is a trip to Ireland to face Connacht on Friday and Allen admits the team need to start putting in match-winning performances on the field.
The 21-year-old was recalled to the starting line up against Leinster last week, grabbing his first try of the season in the process.
And confident his form is starting to come good, the Welshman also believes Blues, under new boss Mark Hammett, will gel over time.
"To be honest, I don't think I've played anywhere near to what I should be playing," he told Wales Online.
"The first couple of games, I was just getting back into it. I stepped up a little bit last weekend. Hopefully I will be able to pick up my performances now and get over that try line a few more times.
"Cardiff is a capital city and there is always pressure on us and people always expect us to do well.
"With the players we have recruited this year we have strengthened the squad, so the expectations are really high.
"But you have just got to appreciate it's a new group of players playing together for the first time, with a new coach, so it will take a bit of time.
"We have got the foundations right, it's just about putting it right on the field now."
