Gregor Townsend's side maintained their 100 per cent record with a clinical 40-23 victory over Benetton Treviso last weekend, but the head coach admitted the overall performance was not up to the required standard.
Strauss echoed Townsend's assessment by urging his players to concentrate for the full 80 minutes if they are to beat third-placed Ulster and silence a raucous Kingspan Stadium crowd on Saturday.
And although the 27-year-old back row acknowledged his opponents will be boosted by the appointment of Neil Doak as head coach, he believes Glasgow have received similar motivation from the recent return of captain Al Kellock.
"I feel like we haven't quite delivered an 80-minute performance yet and if we can do that then we can be an exceptional side," Strauss told The Scotsman.
"It is great to be five and zero and be sitting top of the GUINNESS PRO12 but in the games there have been ups and downs, and the complete performance for a full match has eluded us.
"So that has to be the goal and if we can make it happen at Ulster tomorrow night that would be a huge plus because nothing but our best will do.
"Ulster have a new head coach in place and they will be very much up for it. The fact that we are top and have a big fat target on our backs will make them even more determined to beat us.
"It is great to have Al back and playing really well. He is an exceptional leader and we are lucky to have him."
