Edinburgh claimed their first win since the opening weekend as tries from Tim Visser and Dougie Fife carried them to a 24-10 triumph over Newport Gwent Dragons at BT Murrayfield on Saturday.
The contest burst into life early in the second half when Matthew Pewtner touched down to give the Dragons a 7-6 lead.
However Visser pounced on an attempted clearance on 47 minutes, allowing the Scotland international to dot down, before Fife went over in the corner ten minutes later to seal the victory.
And after seeing Edinburgh leapfrog their opponents in the GUINNESS PRO12 table, Solomons credited his team's ability to put four winless games behind them.
"I think what has carried them through is their character," he told The Scotsman. "I think the morale in the side has carried them through.
"Obviously the knocks that they get from outside the group knocked their confidence but the morale has been great.
"And that is why I say, when you come into these situations, it's a tribute to the morale of the side and a tribute to the character of the players the way they played.
"And to be honest we should have had three tries. Viss missed the ball and Hamish Watson could have scored it. We created the opportunities in this game - I thought the boys did really, really well."
