An opening-day victory over Munster in the GUINNESS PRO12 was the perfect start for Solomons' side this season however, they went on to lose three of their next four games - the only positive being a 20-20 draw with Scarlets.
But victory over Newport Gwent Dragons in their last GUINNESS PRO12 match was followed up by a 15-13 win away at Bordeaux-Begles on Friday night - a result that delighted Solomons.
"This team have got tremendous character," he said. "I felt that we weren't going to let it go," he told the Edinburgh News.
"The morale in the side has been massively high at all times. Confidence is flowing back into this side. In all the circumstances, to come back and win it is big stuff.
"It was a simply outstanding effort. To play a club that has just smashed Clermont Auvergne and Castres - two of the big clubs in France - by 50 points having travelled after leaving at 5 o'clock in the morning, arriving here at half-past two, then to play the following day and lose your captain after five minutes and get a yellow card with 20 minutes; to go and still come back and win that game, that's incredible."
