Treviso welcome Racing Métro 92 to the Stadio Comunale di Monigo on Sunday after going down 42-7 to Ospreys in their opening European encounter.
The appointment of new head coach Umberto Casellato led to an influx of new players over the summer, and Goosen is the first to admit the side has yet to gel fully.
With six losses from six games the Green and Whites prop up the GUINNESS PRO12 but the South African, Treviso's record points scorer in European competition, is confident things will soon change.
"I have played enough rugby to know when there is a light at the end of the tunnel," he said. "Our back line has an average age of 23 and there are some young guys up front too.
"The results at this moment are not important. It does hurt if you lose but at the end of the day it is all about performance for us and trying to take small steps forward. But I think we are on the right track and we will get better.
"The language barrier is a problem. We have a lot of new guys, a lot of new foreigners who cannot speak the language.
"It drags everything out a little bit because you have to translate everything. It is not an excuse but you have to put things in context, in the bigger picture.
"We want to be competitive in Europe and we want to be within the top six of the GUINNESS PRO12.
"It will not happen overnight, we have changed a lot of players and changed coach as well. Maybe in a year's time we will be up there."
