The winger made his first GUINNESS PRO12 start against Ulster last weekend and is in the line-up once again for the Dragons' clash against Harlequins on Friday night.
In the Ulster match Hewitt lined up on the opposite wing to Aled Brew, who rejoined the Welsh side over the summer after a spell with Biarritz.
And the 19-year-old admits that playing alongside Brew, who is the leading try scorer in Dragons history, as well as experienced full-back Lee Byrne is a dream come true.
"When I found out he [Aled Brew] was returning to the Dragons it was massive for me," Hewitt told the South Wales Argus. "I grew up watching him at the Dragons before and the same goes for Lee Byrne with Wales.
"Training and playing with them is a massive deal for me and I've learned so much, they were once my idols and now they are my competition.
"It's really good and we all push each other in training. I feel I've improved greatly since being in the environment full-time this season and it's making a massive difference to my game."
Hewitt found himself in the starting XV for the Ulster game after Ashley Smith suffered a late injury which ruled him out of the contest.
After impressing at the Kingspan Stadium, the Wales U20 international will have another opportunity to shine at the Twickenham Stoop against Quins - a chance he is keen to seize.
"It's a brilliant opportunity to play well and put your hand up for selection in the important PRO12 games," he added.
"Last week was a good chance for me against Ulster and it was nice to have the start at late notice rather than just having ten minutes at the end. Getting 80 minutes has given me confidence."
