The 20-year-old back rower is still making a name for himself at Rodney Parade but has been a more familiar face in recent weeks, coming off the bench against Newcastle Falcons in Europe before playing the full 80 minutes in the Dragons' GUINNESS PRO12 defeat to Ulster.
Despite finishing up on the wrong side of a 23-6 scoreline Benjamin impressed enough to keep his place in the starting line up as the Dragons got their LV= Cup campaign off to the worst possible start with defeat to Harlequins.
And Benjamin is taking nothing for granted as he looks to put his hand up for more GUINNESS PRO12 inclusion against Welsh rivals Ospreys.
"I am really excited about the game with Ospreys," Benjamin said. "It is a big derby game and there is always that extra added spice when two Welsh regions do battle.
"There will be no shortage of big tackles and hopefully we can come out on top and get back to winning ways.
"It is also a great opportunity to show what you can do and put your hand up to the coaches moving forward.
"It is all about putting yourself in the shop window and hopefully improving all the time. Getting better and learning with each game.
"The game against Ospreys is obviously one we want to win but at the same time it is a learning curve for the younger guys so it is an important game for many reasons."
