Anscombe finally made his first GUINNESS PRO12 appearance after signing from Waikato Chiefs and played the full 80 minutes at full-back as the Blues were soundly beaten 28-13 by Edinburgh.
The 23-year-old was born in New Zealand, but qualifies to play for Wales through his parentage and could yet become Warren Gatland's main man next year.
However, with the Blues ninth in the GUINNESS PRO12 table and without a league win since the opening day of the season, Anscombe knows he cannot look further afield than south Wales.
"I'm a pretty driven guy and now that I'm over here it's the goal to play for Wales. So, I guess the next step may be the Six Nations," he told Wales Online.
"But if you look too far ahead in this game then you tend to miss out on the little things, so the target for me now is to play well for the Blues.
"There are a few classy No.10s and outside backs in that Welsh team, so I know I need to play well at club level."
