Coombs was banned for GUINNESS PRO12 clashes with Glasgow Warriors, Benetton Treviso and Scarlets in September, while knee and calf injuries further ensured the Wales international's game time has been limited this season.
But the 30-year-old bagged two scores in the comfortable 37-10 European win over the Wolves in Bucharest, and Jones insists he can now get back to his best.
"We are pleased for Andrew," he told WalesOnline. "He has not had the greatest season so far between bans and being injured and it has been a difficult and frustrating time for him.
"But we know the quality he has. He is a Wales international; he is a Six Nations winner.
"We are starting to see that from him and it was very pleasing to see the amount of work he and Cory Hill got through in the second row for us.
"With all the injuries we have had this season a lot of times we have had to field a lot of very young guys who have not had that much experience.
"But we could see here that having some of those older heads back in the side can bring the best out of the young guys.
"We have had a tough season so far so we will enjoy this win and a good performance. Hopefully we can build on it.
"We don't take anything for granted and we know Bucharest are not an easy side to beat. They gave Stade Francais a hard time and they made it very difficult for us during the early going here.
"But on home soil, if we apply ourselves properly, we would expect to get another win."
