The Swansea outfit remain top of the standings with just over half of the league fixtures played, but missed out on taking a commanding lead in the table on Saturday evening, going down 22-10 to Welsh rivals Scarlets.
With three of their main title contenders all losing in round 12, it was an opportunity blown to make a huge statement of intent with a win in Llanelli, but Jones is optimistic his side can draw a line under that performance.
Another GUINNESS PRO12 Welsh derby is fast approaching with Newport Gwent Dragons visiting the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, and the 29-year-old lock insists Ospreys will be a totally different side this weekend.
"Hopefully, we can leave this behind and move on," he told the South Wales Evening Post. "It's still the mid-point of the season, and we've got plenty of games left.
"So hopefully we can stay where we are, but it'll need much-improved performances to do that.
"In the first-half territory and possession were against us. Credit to the Scarlets, I thought their kicking game was pretty good and they starved us of both.
"Then the second half started in completely the opposite way to what we would have wanted. They got the try, and although we tried to get back into it, it was too much and we probably left it too late.
"Part of it is credit to the opposition, but there was also a lot of unforced errors of our own, turnovers at the contact area or our kicking game, so hopefully we can influence that ourselves over the next week."
