Surgery and lengthy rehabilitation followed, but Watson was back to help Edinburgh beat Connacht last weekend and hopes this weekend's trip to Lyon will be not so much a chance for redemption, but an opportunity to launch a consistent run in the team.
"Sometimes you have to wait for an opportunity and when it comes along take it," Watson told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"No one wants to get injured but in your career you are going to get one or two bad injuries. Hopefully I can now get a run.
"That's rugby, you do get horrible injuries and I have a few screws and a plate in my face to prove it.
