Last May the Irish outfit were left celebrating their second successive title win after they defeated Glasgow Warriors in the final.
It was not such a dominant start to this campaign, however, with three defeats in their opening five games.
Fast forward to January though and Leinster are very much back in the mix at the business end of the table, sitting three points behind leaders Ospreys in fourth place.
League matters are currently taking a back seat with back-to-back European games before the GUINNESS PRO12 resumes with a home tie against Newport Gwent Dragons in February.
And having taken time to reflect on their season so far, O'Connor knows better consistency will be key to tasting success again.
"We looked at it pretty critically and we looked at what let us down and what needs to be better," he told Leinster's official website.
"Given all the circumstances that go into a performance and at the half way point of the season, we're pretty comfortable with where we are.
"We know that there is growth in our game but to be in touch in the league, to be still alive in Europe and a lot of guys coming back fresh with a genuine desire to demonstrate how good they are, we're in a pretty good place.
"To finish top of the league and win the title was a really significant goal that the group set at the start of the year.
"How do you surpass that? You've got to make sure the consistency is better and we wouldn't, as a group, be happy with how our consistency has been in the first six months of this season."
