The GUINNESS PRO12 side, inspired by in-form Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, romped to a 38-20 victory over Bordeaux-Begles on Friday night to advance to the knockout stages.
Solomons has set about transforming the fortunes of the Scottish side since arriving at BT Murrayfield in July 2013, guiding Edinburgh to eighth in the PRO12 table last term after consecutive tenth and 11th-place finishes.
And their latest stepping stone on the path to success has Solomons reaching for the sky.
"Once it gets to the knockout stage, it's all about the day in any sport," he told the BBC.
"There is an element of unpredictability about it and everyone who makes it through has a chance to win the competition.
"Turning Edinburgh around has been like turning a tanker. It's not been easy, but I think we are certainly moving in the right direction."
Edinburgh return to GUINNESS PRO12 action against league leaders Ospreys on Friday February 13th.
