Fife crossed the whitewash shortly before half-time in Scotland's defeat to France last weekend - Ford himself playing 67 minutes in Paris.
The match was 24-year-old Fife's sixth game in Scotland colours but his recent call up comes after an impressive domestic season with Edinburgh, with nine GUINNESS PRO12 appearances to his name.
And having observed his teammate at close quarters during their time together at the Scottish club, Ford knows the milestone will only make the winger more determined to continue putting in the hard yards.
"Dougie took his try well and is somebody who is neither up nor down, very level headed," Ford told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"The way he is he will go away and keep working and want to score more. That is the kind of boy he is, someone who works hard at what he does.
"Dougie has come up through the ranks at Edinburgh, come through the academy system and has played well.
"He's a big part of the Edinburgh squad and will want to do for Scotland what he does for Edinburgh."
