The former Cardiff Blues and Ospreys fly-half was previously working at Parc y Scarlets as skills coach, but has been handed greater responsibility with the GUINNESS PRO12 club until the end of the season, following the departure of Mark Jones.
Flanagan's immediate work paid dividends in Scarlets' 32-14 win over Connacht last weekend, with three backs - Jordan Williams, Harry Robinson and Michael Tagicakibau - all scoring.
And the 29-year-old hopes he can continue to make his mark ahead of permanent successor Stephen Jones' arrival in the summer.
"We tried to keep things simple," said Flanagan. "We're trying to test the boys' accuracy.
"I've put a lot of ownership on the players to make decisions and again express themselves.
"They've got some ownership on the way we attack now and it's important to them. Getting a lot of ball helped.
"That's all people have always asked here is to see the players expressing themselves, to beat people and see some offloads.
"It was probably a good game to watch on the weekend. The weather definitely helped but it was nice to see them playing like they did."
