Blues bounced back from a three-match losing run with last weekend's 21-15 win over Edinburgh in their clash at the Arms Park.
And following the recent departure of director of rugby Mark Hammett, Williams believes the best way for the club to end the season is by playing simple rugby and getting back to basics.
"At times we do get ourselves into a rut and we try to play in our own half a bit too much which often results in a penalty and points for the opposition," the 25-year-old revealed.
"We wanted to keep it simple and get the result against Edinburgh."
Next up for Blues are Connacht Rugby, currently lying sixth in the GUINNESS PRO12 table.
And Williams is keen for his team to build up some momentum with their home form after that impressive performance against Edinburgh on Sunday.
"It's just about getting ourselves further up the league after the victory against Edinburgh and we have a quarter-final to look forward to.
"Not much has needed to be changed, just small things that were lacking from our game. "
