And with the Blues - who beat them 11-9 at Rodney Parade earlier in the season - coming to town again this weekend for a crunch European quarter-final, Evans insists his side will be ready to launch a derby day attack on their rivals.
"We beat the Blues at the Arms Park but on New Year's Day they really brought physicality to the game at Rodney Parade," Evans, 22, told the South Wales Argus. "We've got to match that this time and take it to them.
"We are the home team and haven't had the greatest of results at Rodney Parade this season, so we need to get back to making it a fortress.
"And there has been a really good buzz in the camp this week after last weekend's bonus-point win in Treviso. We're in a good place at the moment but have to step it up against the Blues."
Both sides will have to be on their guard in the rucks, with Evans and his opposite number Lloyd Williams both in form at scrum-half in recent weeks.
Williams has touched down ten times this season, with five tries coming in their first three European pool fixtures, but Evans has been crossing the whitewash himself in recent weeks with scores in the wins over Ulster and Treviso taking his tally up to seven.
He added: "Lloyd is playing really well. The Blues have been chopping and changing their No.9's all season but he seems to have finally become first choice.
"He's a really good player and is quick around the ruck, good at sniping and a real threat. We'll have to keep an eye on him but hopefully the Blues will be looking out for me as well because that can open up space elsewhere.
"I've been in good form recently and think I have benefited from having a good run of games, so hopefully that will continue this weekend."
