The Ospreys' defensive record is at the core of their push for a GUINNESS PRO12 home semi-final, with Peers' ferocity in contact a factor in their concession of just 24 tries from 18 matches - he has been successful with every single one of his 74 tackles this season.
And as his side prepares for a run in that includes a Liberty Stadium shootout with the pacesetters from Glasgow, Peers admits senior teammate Jones has had a key role in his impressive development.
"Al is definitely a leader, he's well-respected and when he speaks people listen - he's been a huge influence on me," Peers told the South Wales Evening Post.
"He has a lot of time for people if they want that time.
"When you go to speak with him he'll respect everything you say and he'll share his point of view.
"He has so much experience, so it's ideal for someone like me to learn from such a player.
"Al knows that he had to learn once. He knows he's the player he is now because he has learned from other people.
"If you have the time to speak to him, he certainly has the time to talk to you."
