Anthony Foley's men entertain Benetton Treviso on Saturday and O'Donnell is set to make his 100th appearance for the Irish province, after a week that has seen him nominated for Munster's senior player of the year award.
The 27-year-old has also made an impression on the international stage this season - touching down for Ireland against Italy - and insists the only way he can keep pushing for contention is to do the business with his club.
"The best way to put your hand up (for Ireland) is to get to a Final," the back-rower told the Limerick Leader. "It is as simple as that. If you get to a final, you are there on the main stage and you can show what you've got.
"That is forefront of our minds at the moment, get to a semi-final, get the best semi-final we can and then the Final. That is all we are thinking about right now.
"There are holidays between here and there (Ireland's pre-World Cup camp) and we will worry about that once we come back into it."
