Edinburgh are just a point behind however, meaning they cannot afford any slip-ups with just two games of the regular season remaining.
Contrastingly, next opponents the Blues are on a three-game losing streak in the league, including a 31-23 defeat to the Ospreys at the Millennium Stadium last weekend.
Scarlets will be confident heading into next Sunday's clash at Parc y Scarlets and prop Edwards admits he is keen to build on last weekend's performance.
"It was great to get five points against Dragons last weekend as they've been going well," he told the Scarlets' official website.
"We'll want to take the momentum from that victory, playing against another Welsh region and we want to keep that going.
"Blues will be licking their wounds. We've got to be on our A game because we want to finish in the top six and don't want to lose at home.
"It'll be competitive I'm sure - you never know what will happen in a derby match. It's a massive game for us in our mission to finish top six."
