They currently lie tenth in the GUINNESS PRO12 table, after collecting just six wins in 20 games, with only Italian outfits Benetton Treviso and Zebre below them.
Although there is little left to play for in terms of league position, there is still ample opportunity to impress Wales coach Warren Gatland before he picks an extended squad for training camps in Qatar and Switzerland ahead of September's World Cup.
And John, who took over the Blues alongside Dale McIntosh following Mark Hammett's February exit, believes that will spur on his players - although personal pride will also be a factor.
"Our objective is to get two good performances and as many points as we can from our last two games," John told WalesOnline.
"We keep on saying we have trained well and that's been the case again. But there's something on the game and it's another derby match.
"A lot of the boys are looking to put their hands up for the World Cup squad. I think Warren is going to name 45 or 46 players for the training camps and getting in it has to be the objective for all our Welsh players.
"So they will want to finish the season on a high and do something to either win or solidify a place and the game with the Scarlets is one the selectors will be looking at.
"A few places in the Wales squad will be up for grabs and they will be playing against their mates and rivals for the Welsh shirt so it's added incentive."
