Jones' troops also finished above Welsh rivals Cardiff Blues for the first time in a decade as well as reaching a European semi-final, where they lost to fellow GUINNESS PRO12 outfit Edinburgh.
They appear primed to get stronger with the addition of South African scrum-half Sarel Pretorius in addition to a welcome return from injury for the likes of Elliot Dee and Andrew Coombs.
And with veteran No.9 Richie Rees ensuring the next generation are ready to succeed in his new role as academy skills coach, there is plenty of cause for optimism.
"We are three miles further down the road than last year. Our change phase has finished and we will have a squad that we are happy with," Jones told the South Wales Argus.
"We are going about our business with good young players and strong overseas signings and we will be in good stead next season if you add the likes of Elliot Dee, Lewis Evans, Andrew Coombs and Sarel Pretorius.
"We are trying to turn things around and have changed the culture and the way that we have gone about our business. There is real promise here."
