Glasgow's shot at glory came 12 months ago as they travelled to the RDS Arena trying to deny Leinster back-to-back PRO12 titles, in what would be Brian O'Driscoll's final professional match.
O'Driscoll didn't get the send-off his glittering career deserved - a hamstring injury forcing him off the pitch just eight minutes in - but a man at the other end of his rugby journey, 21-year-old Finn Russell, booted four penalties to ensure the Warriors trailed just 14-12 at half-time.
Having already scored and created a pair of tries before the break, Leinster flyer Zane Kirchner couldn't be kept quiet in the second half, touching down for another before setting up Gordon D'Arcy to put the cherry on the top of a 34-12 victory for the Irish outfit.
While Glasgow suffered heartbreak against Leinster last year, Munster found success against the same team back in 2011.
Having topped the table since Round 2 of the regular season, no-one could deny that Munster deserved their 19-9 victory at Thomond Park.
Tries from former All Black Doug Howlett and Ireland star Keith Earls, in addition to a late penalty try, proved enough as a surprisingly lacklustre Leinster, fresh off a European Cup win, could only manage three Jonathan Sexton penalties.
That defeat brought a disappointing end to an otherwise successful first campaign in charge for coach Joe Schmidt, who had replaced Michael Cheika the previous summer.
Cheika's tenure had also ended in disappointment, as Ospreys triumphed 17-12 over Leinster in the 2010 showpiece - the first Final since the play-off format's return.
First-half tries from Tommy Bowe and man-of-the-match Lee Byrne ultimately did the damage as the table-topping Irish side lost their remarkable 20-month unbeaten streak in the league at the RDS Arena.
Leinster had a shot at redemption two years later as they once again hosted the Welshmen in the 2012 Final but Shane Williams ended his Ospreys career in fairytale fashion with the winning try late on.
Schmidt's men led 17-9 at the break and 30-24 after 78 minutes but Williams slipped between two tackles to dot down in the right corner before Dan Biggar nailed the touchline conversion to seal a 31-30 win.
With 61 points, it remains the highest-scoring league Final to date and if Munster and Glasgow can recreate some of that drama this weekend, the fans will be in for a treat.
And the 2013 PRO12 showpiece finally saw Leinster's hoodoo come to an end as they put three consecutive Final defeats behind them to down Ulster 24-18.
Shane Jennings got the ball rolling with a try just three minutes in and Jamie Heaslip notched another after the break to ensure that 18 points from Ruan Pienaar, the most in a Final to date, was not enough for the Ulstermen.
