Edinburgh became the first Scottish side to appear in a European final before falling to Gloucester, while the Warriors will compete in their second consecutive PRO12 final at the Kingspan Stadium this Saturday.
It has yet to translate on the international stage - Scotland did not win a game during their spring campaign - but Hogg, who at 22 has many more chances to star for both club and country, is confident progress will be made.
"I think it would be great for Scottish rugby for us to pick up a trophy at the weekend," the full-back told the Daily Record.
"Edinburgh were in a position to win something as well earlier in the season, so in terms of Scottish rugby we are going in the right direction.
"A win for us this week would give us a real boost ahead of the World Cup as well.
"I think the last couple of weeks we haven't put in the complete 80-minute performance with Glasgow, so this week we'll definitely need that.
"For us it's about concentrating on our own game - we've got our structures in place.
"We'll hopefully break Munster down and if we get our jobs right then things should come good for us."
