He didn't feature in the final four years ago - the last time Munster reached this stage of the competition - as Tony McGahan's side clinched a third league title with victory over Leinster.
Indeed only four players who started that day are among Anthony Foley's chosen XV for tonight: Felix Jones, Keith Earls, Donnacha Ryan and Paul O'Connell - the latter playing his last game for Munster.
And Hurley - stand-in skipper for the injured Peter O'Mahony - is confident the new generation can rise to its toughest challenge yet.
"This is a different squad of players from four years ago," said the centre. "There are a lot of new faces that haven't had the opportunity to play in finals so I think tasting a winning final would be great for us, going into next season as well.
"The group have put in a lot of work of late and the coaching staff have got us this far. There are obviously a few players with injuries but I think we have a quality enough side to go out and do a job."
O'Mahony and Ireland scrum-half Conor Murray are the two most notable of those absentees, the former failing to recover in time from a hip problem and the latter sidelined with a knee injury.
But Hurley is eager to emphasise that the absence of two senior players has not knocked the belief at Munster that their time is now.
"Peter had to make a decision between the physios and that and he just felt he wasn't right," he said.
"It was a tough decision for him to make. Every player wants to get an opportunity to play in a final and obviously Peter is club captain so it was a big decision. I'm just filling in a role for him.
"There were times during the season when they were away on international duty and we had lads stepping in and doing quality work.
"Duncan Williams came on for Conor last week and I thought he had a superb game and that's not on the back of a bit of luck. He has been working quite hard on his game."
And despite expecting a brutal battle up front tonight, the Munster captain is eager to ensure Glasgow's flying backs are not allowed to take advantage of any opportunities they do get.
"It's anyone's game, neutral venue or home venue, and it's still going to be a tough one," added Hurley.
"You are always looking at the opposition and you see the quality of internationals that Glasgow have in the backline and they are missing a few as well.
"The players on both sides are quite dangerous and they can slot in and out. It will be quite a physical game. No doubt the backs will have some input but I suppose the physicality of the packs is going to be quite an interesting battle up front."
