They didn't take long to exact their revenge, beating Leinster on the opening day of this season - and that result set the tone for an eye-catching campaign.
After topping the regular-season table a last-gasp Finn Russell conversion saw off Ulster in the play-offs last Friday night and now they clash with Munster at the Kingspan Stadium, with the winners getting their hands on the trophy.
And Strauss, who will skipper the Warriors tonight with club captain Al Kellock among the replacements, is confident last year's experience puts them in a good place this time around.
"I think this year it is much calmer," said the bearded No.8. "That's the feeling that I'm getting, as a group that's the feeling we have and it has been a great week. It has been very relaxed and that is what you want going into a game.
"Last week we let ourselves down. At times we didn't play our best game but we showed great character at the end to win the game.
"It's obviously an honour to be captain. I think everyone in the team knows that Al is the captain and I'm just filling in until he comes on in the second half.
"Al does all the talking, he is the big presence in team. He's got the gift of the gab and he is just brilliant at what he does."
In Munster they face a side that is currently enjoying a six-match unbeaten run in the PRO12, though Glasgow did get the better of them in last year's play-offs.
After that game, the Warriors faced a two-week wait before the Final but this time the gap has been just eight days - something Strauss has found to be a blessing.
"In a play-off situation you don't want too much distraction and weeks off maybe bring a bit of distraction," he added. "The transition from week to week was great and it has been really calm this week.
"Because you don't have too much time to think about it, I think that gives a good boost and it just keeps the focus there.
"They are a great team all over the pitch but I think at the set piece they are brilliant. As a pack of forwards we relish the challenge and we want to get out there and stick it to them and be very physical.
"That is what it's going to take from us as a pack of eight and the guys coming off the bench but as a team we have to front up physically."
