It was his best ever try haul in the competition and beaten only by Ospreys scrum-half Rhys Webb, who then went on to be named Players' Player of the Year.
But Corrigan, who wore the blue of Leinster in his playing days and won 47 international caps, admits Ireland's strength in depth means Gilroy could still miss out when head coach Joe Schmidt names his final squad for the World Cup.
"Craig Gilroy is such an exciting young player, but Joe has so much choice in that back-three and Simon Zebo really seems to be in favour," he told the Belfast Telegraph.
"It's going to be tough for anyone to force their way into that squad, but between now and the end of August anything can happen.
"It's so strong at the moment, and the areas you're looking at are so competitive, it's going to be really tough to break into that squad from the outside now."
Meanwhile Corrigan believes Gilroy's captain at Ulster, Rory Best, will play an important role for Ireland at the tournament.
Now 32 and with 83 caps to his name Best is a veteran of both the GUINNESS PRO12 and the international stage.
"Rory Best at hooker is such an important character for Ulster, obviously captaining the side and for Ireland as well," added Corrigan.
"His performances of late have been incredible so he really would be one that Joe is going to look to."
