Nine of those appearances came from the replacements bench, but with preferred No.10 Biggar set to be away at the World Cup, Davies will get some extended time in the spotlight.
And the Welshman wants to play his part in ensuring Ospreys pick up points in the early weeks as they chase a first title since 2012.
"It's a key part of the season," Davies told the South Wales Evening Post.
"We had a good start last term and it stood us in good stead for the rest of the campaign. We all know how important it is that we play well and put together some decent results so there is a platform in place when the boys come back from the World Cup.
"Hopefully, I'll get better as I get older and be able to push Dan on to better his game as well.
"It's not a short-term thing. I have to be consistent with my performances, as Dan has been for the past four or five years, and make sure I can get to the point where he is in his career.
"Last term, I was quite pleased with the way things went personally but the side went well and that made things easier.
"It's a team game and it's all about trying to do your bit to get results for the region. If that happens, the chances are other things will fall in place."
