But while turning out 15 times for the club in total, it was announced the 29-year-old was leaving the club by mutual agreement this summer, and a return to Treviso promptly arrived.
In his absence the Italian side failed to improve on their 11th place position from 2013/2014, finishing in the same spot in the table, but with two fewer victories and 11 less points.
But after reacquainting himself with old friends and teammates, de Marchi - who was left out of Italy's final World Cup squad - believes the team can make up ground this time around.
"I wanted to get back to Treviso because that's home for me. A year away from the club makes a difference but I am finding my feet again very quickly," he said.
"There have been many changes while I have been away but good changes.
"I wasn't playing there last season but I followed my teammates. The team was put together in a very short time last year so their preparation work was not as good as it should have been.
"This year is completely different. I can feel it is a very positive environment. There is a lot of enthusiasm there so I'm sure we will do a lot better than last year."
