Two years ago, Walker came off the back of a promising PRO12 campaign with the Ospreys and began preparing for his Test debut against South Africa.
After breaking down with a wrist injury just two days before the match, Walker had to wait until just last month to finally pull on a Wales shirt in a full international.
Walker has never enjoyed an uninterrupted campaign - indeed last season's tally of 12 GUINNESS PRO12 appearances is his highest in a single season, despite breaking through in 2011-12.
The 23-year-old flyer fell at the final hurdle when it came to World Cup selection this week but, if he can stay injury-free, don't bet against Walker striking fear into the heart of opposition defences and regularly crossing the whitewash this season.
