But while Treviso could only add two Hayward penalties after the break, Stander touched down twice to rack up a tenth straight GUINNESS PRO12 home win for Munster, and a fourth straight over their Italian visitors.
And while admitting it was far from perfect, captain Stander believes the result gives Munster a good platform to build on.
"It was a good performance from the boys but we are also disappointed that we left a few tries out there and small mistakes cost us a few tries," he said.
"So I think we can do a lot better than that but for a first game out I am delighted with the win.
"We take it week for week and I am delighted for the boys who got their first start, especially here at Irish Independent Park, and I think with the boys away at the World Cup it is important to bring the young boys through.
"It is going to be a long season for us and it is important to have good players like that in the team.
"It was just small mistakes that let them back in the game so we will try and sort that against Ospreys."
