But 20-year-old Thornton, who was part of Wales' summer training squad for the Rugby World Cup, knows that it's not time to press the panic button just yet despite sitting second-bottom of the GUINNESS PRO12 table.
"We've played tough opponents in our first two games, against Ulster and Munster, sides with good packs," said Thornton.
"We don't want to let the international boys down while they are away - that's the biggest thing. We have to be in a strong position when they return.
"We all have the same mentality. We want to fight for that title, we want to fight to get into the play-offs and hopefully get into the final.
"So we have to make sure we don't let standards drop because the internationals are away. We're a young group, but we have to ensure our training and playing levels stay up there.
"It's not about getting our morale back after two defeats.
"It's there, anyway. It's disappointing to lose the first two games, but the main thing is not to panic and think that we are sinking. It's only the first two games.
"We can move on from them now. We have to make sure we come up with a good performance against Edinburgh and carry it on for the rest of the season."
