That debut year saw Ulster take the league title with victory over Leinster but they have failed to repeat the feat since - though they did finish as runners-up in 2013.
This season has seen Ulster start with two wins and a loss from their opening three matches with Trimble's side currently sitting fifth.
The pick of those results came in Trimble's 190th cap where they secured a 48-7 bonus-point win at the Kingspan Stadium.
And Trimble is hopeful his team can kick on and repeat the glory of a decade ago.
"It was a big occasion to get to that milestone and then get one or two touches of the ball," he said.
"What was pleasing for me is how clinical we were and we took them through phases and we didn't get bored.
"Winning silverware that season with Humph in 2006 when he got the drop goal over both uprights and off the crossbar was a special night.
"That was my first season of professional rugby and I thought it was all going to be straightforward and we still haven't won anything since.
"I hope it's only a matter of time before we win some silverware again and I want to be part of that and keep working hard.
"Hopefully we can just build on the momentum and when the guys come back from the World Cup it will be all systems go."
