On Sunday a try from James Davies proved enough to help Scarlets to an unconvincing 20-8 victory, overturning a half-time deficit in Parma.
But Pivac, it seems, is a hard man to please.
"We will take the four points, but we are certainly not happy with the performance," Pivac, told the Scarlets official website.
"In the first half we came second best across the park and we spoke about that at half-time. We rectified some of it in the second half, but overall there were too many turnovers and too many mistakes.
"We probably got ahead of ourselves and got caught up in Rugby World Cup mood. We talked about standards we'd set in the first two rounds and the fact that our attitude decides the result, either way.
"We're certainly happy to be going home and having three home games. We've set ourselves a target of top four by the end of the World Cup but this group has some work to do after Sunday."
