The Blues, meanwhile, have followed a 61-13 thrashing of Zebre with back-to-back defeats and Reed is eager to ensure they return to winning ways to celebrate the occasion.
"It will be great to bring up the half century," he told the club's official website. "I would love to have played a lot more but being such a physical game you can pick up injuries.
"I always look at the number of games I play for clubs because it shows how much of a clubman you are and what you have put in on the field. I pride myself on playing a lot of rugby and I hope to have a lot more to come for Cardiff Blues.
"I had a bit of a foot issue in the summer, but I've come back from that and slotted into the role that Danny (Wilson) has given me.
"I'm hoping to build a strong relationship with him, keep my head down and work hard to churn out decent performances.
"I worked with Danny when I was in West Wales in the Academy and our paths have crossed a fair bit. It's been good working with him and we are all enjoying the new regime here."
Reed will be hoping to feature from the start in the game on Saturday to bring up his personal milestone and is under no illusions as to the size of the task facing Cardiff Blues.
"It's always very difficult in Munster," added the 28-year-old. "I've played over there a number of times in my career and it's never an easy game.
"Munster have such a mature team and have learned from the best, with players like Paul O'Connell. The younger boys have learned off him and they have good structure and talent in their squad.
"We were disappointed by the Connacht result last time out and it was a double-edged sword really. We wanted to win but switched off at times in both halves. But we came back strong to get what could be two crucial bonus points."
