Once again they proved a threat but the Welsh region did enough to pick up four points, as Nic Cudd grabbed the game's only try and Jason Tovey added 14 points from the tee.
That was just a second win of the season for Jones' side - after a 13-0 triumph against Zebre last month - to move them eighth in the GUINNESS PRO12 table.
"We are really pleased to win because Treviso have been causing problems for everybody they've played against," he said.
"We cancelled out their threats at the line-out and scrum and they didn't score a try, which was pleasing. After two defeats there were lots of improvements and they are ongoing.
"We need to get to 25 points on the scoreboard - we had lots of good approach work again, it's just not being finished off and it's just a matter of time before we put things together.
"Errors are not always (costing) a try but it's releasing the pressure that creates a penalty. There were four knock-ons in the 22 and it's inexcusable.
"As long as we keep working hard and keep looking to improve, it will come."
However, Jones was quick to admit that the Dragons must improve next Friday when they visit the table-topping Scarlets, who made it five wins from five last night.
"The Scarlets are a very confident side," he added. "They are playing good rugby and they are over the ball any way they can, so we know we have to play a little bit better than against Treviso.
"We need to pose them problems. Local derbies are great but last year's performance there was really, really disappointing."
