Munster have enjoyed a good start to the campaign - only a last-gasp Steve Shingler penalty denied them victory at table-topping Scarlets - though Ulster have quietly gone about their business too.
Ulster are just two points behind third-place Munster and can count fly-half Jackson among their Rugby World Cup stars eager to string the displays together for Ulster.
Jackson will start against Munster after appearing off the bench at home to Cardiff Blues, and the 23-year-old wants to hit the ground running.
"It's always good playing the derby games, the InterPros, and it's going to be a tough battle - especially at Thomond Park," Jackson told Ulster Rugby TV.
"We haven't been too good away from home recently so it's time to put that to bed and get a win on the road.
"It was great to get back in the white jersey and to get a bit of game time so hopefully I can kick on now and get a good few games together back-to-back.
"The World Cup was good, I didn't get the gametime I wanted but from a learning point of view it was good to see how things worked.
"Hopefully if I get the chance again in four years I'll be more involved. Joe (Schmidt) is a great coach and you learn a lot off him and the players around you, so from that point of view I've learned a lot and I want to bring it into the game here."
