Steve Tandy has been able to welcome back a host of Welsh stars from World Cup duty in the last fortnight, but Jones -who this week missed out the world rugby player of the year award to New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter - insists that cannot be an excuse for their plight in the league.
Four-times champions Ospreys sit second-bottom in the table after just one win from six games so far, and face the in-form Zebre next up in the GUINNESS PRO12.
But with their first European fixture scheduled for the following week, Jones is confident his side can build some momentum and get their season back on track.
"We're fortunate to start off with a home game in Europe," he said. "We've had a pretty poor run by our own standards in the GUINNESS PRO12 this year, but we've got one more game left to try and spark ourselves into a bit of form before European completion begins.
"Then hopefully the change of competition into Europe could help us in the league - one can be a springboard for the other.
"We've got a lot to do and we're not making excuses. If we get our house in order and as long as we stop doing silly things on the rugby pitch we will start getting the results we need.
"The buzz in Europe is definitely still there for me as I'm still chasing it. I haven't actually done that much in the competition itself, whereas I've been lucky enough to do well in the GUINNESS PRO12 and with Wales.
"As a player you are always chasing success and I am still chasing that in this competition."
