But Hidalgo-Clyne - who also went to the World Cup with Scotland - saw his last-minute drop-goal attempt charged down and a 16-14 defeat confirmed for Edinburgh.
Yet the 22-year-old is in no doubt that Edinburgh will bounce back from their recent slump as the internationals
get back into their groove at the club.
"It's a long old season so we'll gel as a team and we'll bounce back," Hidalgo-Clyne told the BBC.
"You could say it's a disruption, the guys coming back and learning the calls and trying to get used to playing with each other again.
"The Connachts and the Scarlets always do very well because they don't have many internationals.
"The first four games we did well but we didn't have our internationalists out there. It's always hard when teams come back and strengthen their side."
