The GUINNESS PRO12 outfit, who reached the final in this competition last year, moved into an early lead in Pool 5, which also features London Irish and Agen.
And Solomons believes his front row - made up of Scotland internationals Alasdair Dickinson, Ross Ford and WP Nel - laid the foundations for a satisfying display.
"I thought they were outstanding," said the South African coach. "There's no doubt they made a massive difference - no matter who Grenoble put on they were under siege in the scrum.
"Our scrum was the foundation for the result. The guys up front put in a terrific amount of effort and were rewarded.
"It was about getting the performance right but it was important to get the win. Although we gifted them their seven points, let's be perfectly honest, it was still convincing.
"It was a case of job done - however we could and should have had the bonus point.
"But the really important thing was to get the victory. It was something we needed after three losses on the trot and it will give us confidence for the trip to Agen next weekend."
