The Cardiff Blues course entails a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport; equivalent to 3 A-Levels, and a Technical Rugby Programme; eight hours a week of practical rugby coaching delivery, coach education and mentoring, delivered by Cardiff Blues.
The course also gives students an exclusive opportunity to gain valuable work based learning experience through the Cardiff Blues Community Department. All of this while gaining qualifications for University.
The course now runs out of Aberdare Community School, Crickhowell High School and St Cyres School and has already been a big success.
The three schools all recently took part in an Open Day at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, prior to the Guinness PRO12 fixture with Glasgow Warriors, where they met Lloyd Williams and Ellis Jenkins and watched the team train.
Nadine Griffiths, Blues Community Manager, said: "It is an exciting time for us as we roll out the education programme across our region.
"The response form students has been fantastic and the course is perfect if are keen on seeking further education and you enjoy sport.
"We've had a huge amount of interest and are encouraging parents and students to discover more about what we are offering for the future."
