Pat Lam's troops' only defeat in any competition this season was by a single point at Glasgow Warriors in round 2 and they ended a 29-year wait for a victory over Munster at Thomond Park last weekend:
Connacht's current run of six wins in a row in the competition is a new club record and if they can make that seven at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, it will worsen the Blues' plight.
The Welsh region have slipped to seven straight defeats in the GUINNESS PRO12, their worst run in the history of the tournament, although they have at least picked up four losing and one try bonus point along the way.
Connacht have also had a penchant for spectacular scores in recent weeks and they provide two of the tries in the Sky Sports Try of the Month competition which you can vote on at http://www.skysports.com/pro-12-try-of-the-month.
If you vote, you will also have the chance to win two tickets for every regular season home GUINNESS PRO12 game of the team of your choice for the 2016/17 season.
There is also action in Belfast on Friday night when Ulster face Edinburgh. The two clubs are equal on points but Edinburgh sit above their hosts in a Champions Cup qualifying place courtesy of having more wins, whilst seven out of Ulster's 23 points come from bonus points.
Edinburgh put Newport Gwent Dragons to the sword at BT Murrayfield last weekend, triumphing 32-13, and will be looking to continue that form underneath the Friday night lights at the Kingspan Stadium:
Reigning champions Glasgow Warriors currently lie just outside the GUINNESS PRO12 play-off zone but welcome fourth-placed Leinster to Scotstoun on Saturday, and a home win could see the teams swap places.
Second-placed Scarlets are also in action on Saturday, travelling to bottom of the table Benetton Treviso, and although the Welshmen may be favourites, they have lost to the Italian outfit on four previous occasions.
Treviso battled hard against Glasgow last weekend and will be no pushover at Stadio Monigo:
The round wraps up with two games involving Welsh regions on Sunday; Newport Gwent Dragons hosting Munster and Ospreys travelling to play Zebre.
Aled Brew will make the 100th PRO12 appearance of his career if selected for the Dragons who face a formidable task as third-placed Munster have won six and lost just two this term.
Ospreys won't have it easy against 11th-placed Zebre, who have two wins already this season, but after edging past Cardiff Blues 13-6 last weekend they will be full of confidence.
