It is a journey that began way back in the 2003-04 season, when a fresh-faced Muldoon made his Connacht debut and one that has seen the 33-year-old help transform the province from also-rans to title hopefuls.
Never one to hog the limelight or steal the glory - the three-cap Ireland international has scored just seven tries in his previous 199 GUINNESS PRO12 appearances - Muldoon is the ultimate team player.
He will be the centre of attention when he completes a double century at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park tonight, but you can bet Muldoon will be solely focused on collecting another victory to keep his side top of the table.
He has also never lost his sense of humour. Upon collecting last season's Specsavers Fair Play award on behalf of Connacht, Muldoon quipped: "It's a little bit ironic because I have received the most yellow cards in the league!"
And just last weekend, he showed his respectful side - eventually - while going head-to-head with referee Ben Whitehouse:
The chasing pack of appearance-makers is led by Scarlets prop Phil John, who has 188 and counting, while Michael Swift - a teammate of Muldoon's for many years before retiring in the summer - is third with 184.
Muldoon also boasts far and away the most GUINNESS PRO12 minutes under his belt, with 13,983 - no doubt he will have the 15,000 mark in his sights.
Ulster winger Tommy Bowe has scored more tries than anyone else in the competition with 66, while former Glasgow Warriors, Cardiff Blues and Connacht stand-off Dan Parks' points tally of 1,582 tops that particular tree.
Not for too long, however, if Wales and Ospreys fly-half Dan Biggar has anything to say about it. At the age of 26, he already has 1,353 GUINNESS PRO12 points to his name.
Biggar surely is destined to go down as one of the competition's all-time greats, but he still has some way to go to match the status of Muldoon.
Indeed, the Galway legend has enjoyed a career that has coincided with an impressive growth and evolution of the GUINNESS PRO12.
Average attendances have doubled in the last decade, while the total points tally each season continues to rise as the excitement and entertainment grow.
Munster and Leinster have lifted five European Champions Cups between them since 2006, while a fiercely-competitive league back home keeps everyone guessing - Glasgow Warriors won it for the first time last season while Connacht lead the pack this time around.
When Muldoon does eventually hang up his boots he will leave behind him a competition in rude health but, until he does, let's keep enjoying what this GUINNESS PRO12 legend has to offer.
