But the GUINNESS PRO12 club are set to face a far tougher test with Pau free to name New Zealand legends Colin Slade and Conrad Smith in their starting XV for the first time.
Yet Hughes hopes they do just that.
"It's really exciting, you want to play against the best and Conrad Smith is one of the best 13s that there has ever been," said the 25-year-old.
"To hold a place in that All Blacks side and win all those trophies, you've got to be something special. His last game was the World Cup final so if they do put him in for Saturday we will look forward to it.
"When I was younger he was the one player that coaches would want you to watch, and from a wide angle because of the work that he gets through and the places that he finds himself on the field.
"He is extremely efficient, great in defence and with skills in attack."
