He went on to play in all five of Wales' matches although he had since failed to fire on all cylinders after returning to Scarlets and was given a couple of weeks away to build up the strength in his leg.
That decision appears to have paid dividends though as Lee delivered a strong scrummaging display in their 9-6 European loss to fellow GUINNESS PRO12 side Glasgow Warriors.
And while not enough to guide his side to victory, Pivac insists there were shoots of recovery for both Lee and the Scarlets scrum as a whole.
"We are doing a lot of work behind the scenes to strengthen Samson's leg," Pivac told the South Wales Evening Post.
"He has felt a little stronger every week and he is in pretty good shape now.
"There is a little smile on his face because he was happy with how the scrum went.
"If you look back at the game last week they pushed us around in the last few minutes and we were also under pressure throughout the game.
"It was a massive turnaround and it is amazing what a week can do in rugby. The scrum was one of the pleasing aspects."
