Since losing their opening three RaboDirect PRO12 fixtures the Welsh region have won their last five games whilst their inexperienced players impressed during the LV = Cup period.
And, using Morgan Allen's recent rich vein of form as an example, Rees highlighted those stepping in during the LV= Cup did far more than simply make up the numbers.
Allen scored a last-minute try to snatch victory against Gloucester Rugby at The Liberty Stadium before touching down again in the 23-13 defeat to Exeter Chiefs.
And although named on the bench for this weekend's clash with Edinburgh, Rees admitted his attitude exemplifies the unity showed by his squad, making it difficult to distinguish between the fringe and first-team.
"We made a firm commitment to the LV players that we wanted the same intensity to support their long-term development," said Rees talking to the Ospreys website.
"We as coaches liked working with a different group and getting the Ospreys message across to those who haven't had as much game time.
"They continue to impress and they are not just seen as young players but they are stepping up with how they contribute off the field around the decision making of the team.
"He [Allen] has been here a while and we have seen the odd glimpse from him in the past but there has been a lack of consistency on his part.
"And we have both had our frustrations but we are starting to see a lot more from him here on a weekly basis in terms of output in training and doing his homework.
"We have probably had larger squads in the past but now we see it as one squad and it is a similar group rather than a side for the RABO and a side for other competitions."
