Last season saw Edinburgh claim the 1872 Cup for the first time since 2009 with a 26-24 aggregate victory over the two matches.
And Solomons has praised his side's endeavour after putting themselves in pole position to retain the crown but knows that anything can happen in a derby match and wants his troops to tighten up and give the Warriors no chance of a comeback.
"The guys showed tremendous heart throughout the game and I think it was summed up by Tom Brown's tackle [on Taqele Naiyaravoro] at the end," said Solomons.
"Our kick execution needs to be more accurate. That caused a lot of problems for us but we have got to cut down our error count as well.
"Errors will happen in tight derby matches but we need to improve this as well as our work at the breakdown area too.
"I still think we can get better in the set-piece. It's something we pride ourselves on and if we can control this aspect then we can get ourselves into the right areas of the field."
